| As you might expect
the emblem has many associations with Kendal and shoemaking. The two
red crosses surmounting the shield are a symbol of St Crispin who
is widely believed to be patron saint of shoemakers. (Some others
name St Hugh.) The top left quadrant shows Kendal town's colours.
In the top right quadrant there is a 'skiving blade' which is used
to trim leather to the correct thickness for a joint. Bottom left
is a representation of Kendal Castle. Bottom right the stripes were
originally two silver bands and one blue band and these were the colours
of the old Netherfield Cricket Club. This emblem is also used by Kendal
Cricket Club and Kendal Football Club.
